About the Project

Overview
Peer Support in Moray is a long‑term commitment to strengthening peer support across Moray by bringing people together through shared experience. Rooted in CHIME — Connectedness, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment — the project creates spaces where people feel valued, supported, and part of a thriving wellbeing community.

Since 2022, Moray Wellbeing Hub and our partners have been working to connect peer supporters, build confidence, and raise awareness of the power of lived experience. Many people offering peer support locally have been doing so in isolation; this project changes that by creating opportunities to meet, learn, collaborate, and grow together.

The 2026–2028 phase builds on everything learned so far. It expands the ways people can give and receive peer support, strengthens networks between community groups and services, and ensures that peer‑led approaches are accessible, sustainable, and shaped by the people who use them.
What We Are Building
We’re strengthening peer support in Moray through five key areas shaped by lived experience.

Peer‑Connection Points
More ways for people to connect — from drop‑ins to online spaces — helping peer supporters share experiences and support one another.

Peer & Provider Networks
Bringing peer supporters, community groups, and services together to reduce isolation and build a shared understanding of good peer support.

Skills, Training & Development
Tailored training, shared resources, and informal mentoring to help people grow confidence and skills, including exploring accreditation.

Interactive Visual Pathway
A clear digital pathway showing routes into peer support — from volunteering to group creation to paid roles — developed with local partners.

Community‑Led Research
Supporting peer‑researchers and ensuring lived experience shapes service design, evaluation, and future planning.

Why Peer Support Matters
Peer support is a lifeline for many people in Moray. It reduces isolation, builds resilience, and offers early support for those facing challenges such as trauma, addiction, poverty, or poor mental health. When people connect through shared experience, they build hope, confidence, and a sense of belonging — all essential for wellbeing.

Across Moray, many peer supporters have been working on their own. Peer Support Connected Moray brings people together, strengthens collaboration, and helps ensure that high‑quality, accessible peer support is available to everyone who needs it. Watch the video to find out more.
